Do remember
the cartoon character Popeye the Sailor Man. He was portrayed as having a strong
affinity for spinach, becoming physically stronger after palak (spinach). The
commonly accepted story of events states this portrayal is based on faulty
calculations of the iron content in palak.
Few days back; I read in book that palak (Spinach) acts as antioxidant
and protects our body from radical formation and act as anti cancer substances
too ; from this I got an ideal of posting some recipe made of palak. But the versatile palak is used in variety of
preparation such as palak rice, palak puri, dal palak, palak pakoda, and one of
the most famous cuisine palak paneer in spite of all this varieties I preferred
palak soup as today’s recipe
Ingredients
1 bunch Palak
(spinach)
1
Onion
5-6 Garlic flakes
1 cup Vegetables (beans, carrot and peas)
1 cup Vegetables (beans, carrot and peas)
2tbsp
Cooked rice
1tbsp Butter
1 tsp Pepper powder
½ Lemon juice
1 tbsp Cream
1tsp Sugar
Salt to taste
Procedure
Clean
Palak. Cook palak, onion sliced, garlic
and salt in cooker (one whistle)
Ones it get cool,
Blend it to smooth palak puree by adding cooked rice.
Heat Butter
in a wok chopped vegetables and cook on medium heat add pepper powder and stir well.
Add palak
puree and mix well
Add water to
consistency you like and bring it to boil
Ones it
starts boiling add sugar and cream stir
well
Reduce the
heat and simmer for 2-3 minutes
Remove from flame,
stir in lemon juice and serve piping hot, garnished with cream.
Serve hot.
